ABOUT KOENIG FARM:
For 20 some years, Mark and I have raised a herd of approximately 100 Angora Goats on our family farm - which originally started in Tampico Illinois with 3 goats, then on to Arlington, KY and then on to Springfield KY! As our knowledge increased, we selectively bred to improve the fineness and curliness of our mohair.
We have been proud of the fact that we use all of the mohair produced on our farm. It is either spun into 100% mohair yarns for knitters, crocheters and weavers, crafted into a line of ornament kits, or washed and sold to crafters for Santa and Doll Curls.
The washing, dyeing, hand painting and spinning has been done right at our spinning mill located on our farm. In the Spring of 2008, after stockpiling a HUGE amounts of all of our yarns and rovings; Mark was transfered to FL. Unfortunately, FL does not have a lot of land for Angora Goats :-( So, with lots of time and patience on our side, we found loving homes for all our goats, sheep and donkeys and have put our farm up for sale!
We are now located in St. John's, FL! It was not an easy thing to move tons of fiber, yarn and a dye studio, but we did it! It has taken us a bit to get set up in our new digs; however, I think I am just about there. Now, I am getting ready to dye, dye, and dye some more so I can get ready for our shows and orders!
We are excited about vamping up for a whole new line of wonderful rovings that I will be handpainting, as well as, new tonal and hand painted yarn colorways! This is truely an exciting time with a new pallete of colorways brewing in my head from our new environment and experiences!
